Reduction of discrete‐time infectious disease models

چکیده

In this work, we propose the construction of discrete-time systems with two time scales in which infectious diseases dynamics are involved. We deal general situations. first, consider that individuals affected by disease move between generalized sites on a faster scale than itself. The second situation includes acting together another slower process. Once models have been built, conditions established so analysis asymptotic behavior their solutions can be carried out through reduced models. This is done using known reduction results for scales. These applied new first them illustrates proposed situation, being local SIS-type disease. Conditions found eradication or global endemicity model, case co-infection primary and an opportunistic treated, latter former. proposed.

Network based models of infectious disease spread.

It has recently become possible to simulate directly dynamics on very large networks. This paper describes a model of epidemiology on a social network, the Epidemiological Simulation System (EpiSims), and offers general speculation on analyzing disease dynamics on networks. We describe the process of building a realistic social network, describe several different definitions of the network, eac...

Antimicrobial Peptides of Innate Immune System as a Suitable Compound for Cancer Treatment and Reduction of its Related Infectious Disease

Application of chemotherapy in cancerous children leads to reduction of immune system efficiency. Therefore, these children are prone to various infectious diseases. The excessive use of antibiotics can bring about antibiotic resistant strains. Hence, it is essential to investigate new therapies for this problem. On the other hand, the emergence of resistance against multiple drugs is a major p...

Humane endpoints for infectious disease animal models.

Since the work of pioneers such as Jenner and Pasteur (Fenner et al. 1997) more than a century ago, animal models have provided essential information in the study of infectious diseases. Although much experimentation can now be accomplished with in vitro systems, animals continue to be necessary for this field for studying the process of inflammation, specific infectious diseases, and pharmacol...

Statistical Models for Infectious Disease Surveillance Counts

Models for infectious disease surveillance counts have to take into account the specific characteristics of this type of data. While showing a regular, often seasonal, pattern over long time periods, there are occasional irregularities or outbreaks. A model which is a compromise between mechanistic models and empirical models is proposed. A key idea is to distinguish between an endemic and an e...

Profile likelihood-based analyses of infectious disease models.

Ordinary differential equation models are frequently applied to describe the temporal evolution of epidemics. However, ordinary differential equation models are also utilized in other scientific fields. We summarize and transfer state-of-the art approaches from other fields like Systems Biology to infectious disease models. For this purpose, we use a simple SIR model with data from an influenza...
